Cross-platform multiplayer in Rascal Rider

Still being in pre-alpha stage, Rascal Rider has just got another of it’s features tested. The cross-platform multiplayer gaming capability has been tested by the cameleon-labs team. This test, including most of the major game features, from riding, to skin changes and animations, was one of the milestones in the Rascal Rider development cycle. The test was run using a several PC machines running both a standalone build as well a web player version of the game, and mobile devices running under Android and Windows Phone 8 operating systems.

This of course means that any Rascal Rider related purchase will be valid for any platform.

Cross-platform tests

Testing the cross-platform multiplayer for Rascal Rider. PC, Android, Web Player and Windows Phone 8 in a single multiplayer session. Working even better than expected :)

Screenshots, music and the near future

cameleon-labs is happy to present a first series of pre-alpha Rascal Rider screenshots. All of them are pure, unedited in-game graphics with effects and lighting ready to be used during the game. However, as the game is still in pre-alpha stage, the presented graphics do not represent the quality of the final product.

Most of the images are featuring one of the inaugural game locations, the Short Circuit, an oval track designed to serve as the first venue for the players to race on. It’s simple layout helps the players to get familiar with both the vehicle physics and with the combat mechanics. The more experienced riders will also find this track interesting due to the intensity of combat during the races on it’s simple layout.

Beside the Short Circuit, the initial release of the game will include 2 other environments, giving 8 different track layouts in total, with more locations to come in the future. Every location will feature it’s own style, with Short Circuit being the smallest and the shortest track in the game.

You can also take a sneak peek at the track by watching this short video, check out the main music theme from the game or watch the first episode of the comic series presenting the story behind the game.

The project is being prepared for the crowdfunding campaign, starting at the end of November. The goal of the campaign is to aid the development process with additional funds that will allow to incorporate all of the prepared features, without the need of financing the game with publishing deal.

The development process of Rascal Rider can be followed on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or it’s IndieDB profile. Start following one of it’s media profiles to be the first to know on the future updates.

New screenshots

Here they are. Some new screenshots from the Rascal Rider. With most of them showing the first track you can slowly start to imagine how it is going to look like. And you can have a first look at the second in-game locatoin.

All of the screens are pure, unedited pre-alpha in-game screenshots.

Shaun the Motorcycle

Yes, this is going to be a motorcycle. And yes, we are totally aware of the fact that it looks like a sheep…

But just wait a few more days, and the ugly sheepling will turn into a beautifull bike. Beautifull, agressive, futuristic superbike.

Meet the Dark Leon

The Dark Leon

Sometimes the ideas just keep coming… The Dark Leon. You may expect him to make some mess in the future. Which of course means that the proper game based on the concept of “Leon. The death story of a teleporting chameleon” is emerging from the black hole…

If you haven’t played the 0h Game Jam version yet, you can do it right now. You probably won’t play many more video games, that were made in an hour, in your life, so grab that chance :)

Whiteboard. October.

our whiteboard in October.

There is something special on our whiteboard this month. What you can see here is the 0h Game Jam concept. And it is quite a complete one. All of the screens, all of the features, all of the characters (one character to be precise), the full list of assets… And you can play the game here: Leon. The death story of a teleporting chameleon.
